tomato pie

i am a fan of pretty much anything savory and one of my favorite dishes is tomato pie. it sounds strange, i know, but the recipe describes it as if "pizza and cheesy bread make out in a pie crust" - and anything that takes like that is okay with me.

it is super simple and great with salads or poultry.

ingredients:

  • 1 9 inch pie shell (i usually go for the frozen variety for convenience)
  • 1/2 chopped red onion
  • 3-4 tomatoes
    • cut tomatoes in half and squeeze all the juices out before chopping
  • 8 large leaves of basil, sliced
  • 2 cups grated cheese (mixture of sharp cheddar and monteray jack)
  • 3/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon of hot sauce
  • salt (of course) and fresh black pepper
first, you will want to place the frozen pie shell in a 350 degree oven for about 10 minutes until it is golden. while the pie shell in the oven mix together the cheese, mayonnaise, salt and pepper and hot sauce.

once the shell is done, there are just four easy steps:

1. place the chopped onion in the shell
2. add "dry" chopped tomatoes and top with sliced basil
3. spread the cheese mixture across the top
4. cook at 350 degrees for anywhere between 25-45 minutes, then dig in!

room refresh: living room

i have been slowly giving my apartment a little make over, mainly in the living and dining rooms. below is a sneak peak of some of the pieces going into the living room...

[mirrored table, couch, and pebble side table all from west elm - yellow velvet and grey mohair pillows from room and board - and floor lamp from crate and barrel]

there is also no shortage of inspiration on pinterest, that's FOR SURE. here are a few of my favorites that have put a fire under my bottom on my room reboot.

...yea, so an animal skin rug is definitely a part of the room. stay tuned for pictures when finished!

just another manic monday

oh monday, you are here again! while this weekend got off to a terrible start (stealing isn't cool) it ended up being quite a nice couple of days.

i spent the weekend at a company picnic getting to know new coworkers, visiting with old friends, and indulging in a 90 minute massage (heavenly).

here are some snaps from the weekend:

the beginning

i have long desired to start a blog and today i am actually doing it.

the name of this blog should not surprise anyone who knows me well, as i salt everything i eat (watermelon, grapefruit, bagels with cream cheese, peanut butter toast... seriously, it is endless). however, this is not a blog about just food (er, condiments) but instead a place where i can share little snippets about life: fashion, food, style, travel, diy projects, decor, shows, wine - the list goes on and on.

here goes nothing!

[salty snack i am currently loving, kale chips]
*add a little bit of crushed red pepper for a nice zip
